Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Mixon has been found not guilty in the alleged road-rage incident that made headlines earlier this year.

The team released a statement on the court case Thursday morning.

“The organization is pleased that this matter is now behind everyone and we look forward to an exciting season with Joe being an important part of the football team,” the statement read.

Mixon had been charged with misdemeanor aggravated menacing, for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman and threatening her.  The Jan. 21 incident happened while Mixon was on his way to Paycor Stadium as the team prepared to leave for a playoff game in New York against the Buffalo Bills.

After a four-day trial, the judge issued the not-guilty verdict.

Mixon did not address reporters after the verdict was announced, but one of his attorneys told the media, “We thought it came out the way it should have,” (via TMZ).

The 27-year-0ld running back still faces possible discipline from the NFL.

Mixon, a Pro Bowl selection in 2021, rushed for 814 yards and seven touchdowns last season as the Bengals reached the AFC Championship game.

The NFL world had mixed feelings about Mixon’s court outcome, with many people mentioning his previous legal issues.
