In the modern NFL, running backs are not typically valued high either in the NFL Draft or free agency. But this year, the Atlanta Falcons selected Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson with the No. 8 pick in the NFL Draft. Such a high draft selection obviously comes with some expectations, but Robinson doesn’t sound too worried about it.
During an interview with ESPN following his first rookie minicamp on Friday, Robinson revealed that he’s not focusing on the expectations. Instead, he just wants to be the best he can be.
“It’s really easy for me to just not pay attention to that stuff,” he said. “I know that God has a plan for me. And if it’s to do those kinds of things, then that’s what I’m going to do. But I do know that I’m going to work as hard as I can to be the best football player, the best teammate that I can be and then obviously get everything down the right way when it comes to the playbook and my assignments and know what I’m supposed to do.
“And then after that, then hopefully, those kinds of things will be in my life.”
It will certainly be interesting to see how his career with the Falcons plays out.
