Bill Belichick Syndication: Arizona Republic

On Thursday morning, news broke that the New England Patriots had decided to move on from legendary six-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick after his 24 seasons with the team. But it sounds like there might be another team that is already expressing interest in hiring Belichick.

According to a report from league insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, Bill Belichick is expected to draw interest from some of the teams currently in need of a head coach, and the Atlanta Falcons have emerged as a top suitor.

“Bill Belichick will want to continue coaching and is expected to draw interest from at least some of the other seven NFL teams that currently have head coach vacancies, quite possibly the Atlanta Falcons, per league sources,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“Falcons owner Arthur Blank has taken some big swings at other high-profile head coaches in the past. Blank once pursued, but didn’t land, Joe Gibbs. He once pursued, but didn’t land, Bill Parcells. Now the Falcons have a head coach opening, and Bill Belichick is a free agent,” Schefter wrote in a follow-up post.

It’s pretty big and shocking news that the Falcons are expected to pursue Belichick, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

We’ll have to see what happens, but Atlanta certainly seems like an option.
