Bill Belichick Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

Bill Belichick and the Atlanta Falcons appear to be growing closer to joining forces. Belichick exited New England after a historic run from 2000-2023 that included six Super Bowl championships. All good things come to an end though, and Belichick’s time in New England is over.

Now, however, he appears to be poised to take the Atlanta Falcons’ job. Some familiar faces might be coming along with him if an emerging report is accurate.

Mark Maske noted that Belichick and the Falcons continue to make overtures. Also, that Belichick has some familiar faces in mind for joining his staff should he take the job.

Those names? None other than former Patriots assistants Matt Patricia, Joe Judge, and Josh McDaniels.

“Some within the league believe that if Bill Belichick does end up in Atlanta, his coaching staff with the Falcons could include Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia, and Joe Judge,” Maske posted. Maske made the post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Perhaps this isn’t surprising, considering all three are Belichick disciples. But it’s their track record that might make this more surprising. Sure, all three have had varying degrees of success as a coordinator. But they obviously have reputations from their short times as head coach. They clearly still follow them, based on the reactions that have emerged after this newsbit was reported.

The Falcons might be zeroing in on Belichick, but will what he brings with him affect them?

Time will tell. The NFL world wasn’t short on reacting to the news, however.

Ouch.
