It’s no secret that this hasn’t exactly been the sort of season that the New England Patriots expected as the team is now just 3-10, marking the earliest the team has been eliminated from playoff contention since 2000. It’s led to some speculation that the team might choose to fire head coach Bill Belichick. And according to one report, that decision has actually already been made.
This week, Tom Curran of NBC Sports Boston reported that already made a decision to part ways with Bill Belichick after the team’s Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany.
“When they came out of Germany, conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision was made,” Curran said according to Boston.com. “They were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year, there would be a parting of the ways for a variety of reasons.”
This is obviously pretty shocking news that the team could be moving toward firing a six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.
Finishing 4-1 this season would be absolutely devastating. If that makes them bring him back and be in the exact same situation next season…it’s not worth it.
Letting BB restart with a legit young QB could revive them, but he has no ability to find talent on O lately😕 https://t.co/3OsUT7Z4kP

Bad look for @Patriots Kraft should stop the drama & say Bill’s our coach & we look forward to building off last weeks win, we’ll evaluate all after season. If not things WILL get embarrassing for all @mlombardiNFL @cgasper @scottzolak @realOBF @FelgerAndMazz @AlbertBreer https://t.co/UaCEedXNXw

Chargers should trade Herbert to Patriots for Belichick! Even trade. Straight across the board. Get 5 winnings seasons out of him; groom the next HC. https://t.co/dofZmhgGxC

I don't understand why he'd get rid of him.

hes proven he cant be trusted to
• get the next QB right
• have more hits than misses in free agency
• draft well
all in one offseason
(as if the next regime could)he can still coach the shit outta defense tho

Obviously, the decision isn’t final until it’s announced, but it’s not exactly looking good for Bill Belichick.
