New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has earned a reputation as the most accomplished coach in the history of the NFL, leading the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships throughout his time with the team. But with the team currently struggling, it sounds like those previous accomplishments might not be enough to save his job unless things improve in a hurry.
According to a recent report from New England Patriots insider Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Patriots team owner Robert Kraft would be willing to fire Bill Belichick if he deems it necessary, despite everything that Belichick has accomplished as the head coach of the Patriots over the years.
In an article titled, “If you think Patriots owner Robert Kraft wouldn’t fire Bill Belichick, you’re wrong,” Howe dispelled the notion that Kraft wouldn’t fire Belichick after everything he accomplished with the team.
“There’s a school of thought that suggests Bill Belichick has earned the right to go out on his own accord, that the architect of the greatest dynasty in NFL history can coach in New England as long as he chooses,” Howe wrote. “Kraft doesn’t subscribe to it.”
It’s pretty brutal news for Belichick, given how much the team has been struggling of late, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media.
It might really be over for bro it gonna feel weird tho https://t.co/XuyViPquuz

Should’ve fired him after he benched Butler for the Super Bowl https://t.co/1sMT4kzoOM

I don’t think the argue is, would he… ofc he would. He’s the owner and it’s a business. Wins matter, honesty it’s the only thing that matters. The argument people are giving is, would Kraft fire Bill mid season. I don’t think the later happens https://t.co/M5LeTklkcs

If Kraft actually fires Bill then whatever stability the Pats have left will officially be gone. I get it, he’s in his 70s and won’t be around forever. But you need a backup plan and his kid is NOT a backup plan. There’s noone else to look to. https://t.co/pI7xa5gGdF

I honestly don't know how to feel about firing Bill at this point. Maybe it's nostalgia I'm not sure https://t.co/xHaALpdHTO

We’ll have to see whether or not Belichick can turn things around in New England. If he can’t, it sounds like Kraft would be willing to part ways with him.
