Longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick won six Super Bowls during his time with the team and has been undeniably one of the most accomplished and successful head coaches in the history of the game. But as he now looks for a new team, he hasn’t necessarily attracted a lot of interest.
As Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports points out, Bill Belichick has only received serious attention from one NFL team this offseason despite his proven track record of success with the New England Patriots.
“Seven NFL teams (not including New England) had or still have an opening for a head coach: Atlanta, Carolina, Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle, Tennessee and Washington. At least five more had to have had some kind of serious discussion about making a move: Chicago, Dallas, both New York teams and Philadelphia,” Wetzel wrote.
“Thus far, only one — Atlanta — has bothered to formally interview arguably the greatest and most accomplished coach in NFL history.”
Obviously, it’s pretty horrible news for Belichick that he hasn’t been heavily pursued after parting ways with the New England Patriots, and the NFL world had a lot to say about the brutal reality for Belichick.
These days who's going to line up to start fresh with a 72 year-old head coach?

It’s funny to hear people say “because he’s not bringing Brady” when Brady himself faced almost this exact scenario where he was not in nearly as much demand as people expected. Revisionist history because Brady won in Tampa but most teams didn’t want him either….

Brady only needed one NFC South team's interest to win another Super Bowl. Go get 'em tiger! https://t.co/J74CAIC9gr

Because Brady carried him. It's never been more blatantly obvious.
More realistically, teams also probably have an issue with his age and not wanting a HC that could retire during any upcoming off-season. Same reason Pete Carroll has zero interest https://t.co/4MUg4AZKmU

He's going to be 72 when the draft starts. Can you really map out a 3 year plan with a 72 year old chief operating executive? https://t.co/6fbqV1iszY

*Checks record without Brady*…interesting
*Checks draft history*…also interesting
*Checks success of assistant coaches elsewhere*…hmm
The record speaks for itself but he's old, stubborn, grouchy, and maybe just maybe was the biggest beneficiary of Tom Brady's greatness. https://t.co/T5berh4jqg

We’ll have to see whether or not he ultimately ends up as the head coach of the Falcons or if someone else decides to give him a chance.
