The Blind Side, the movie ostensibly based on the life of future NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher, grossed over $309 million at the box office after its release in 2009.
However, the movie looks different if new allegations by Oher against the Tuohy family are true. Oher alleges that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy lied to him and everyone else about adopting him, instead placing him under a conservatorship that allowed the family to defraud him of millions of dollars while using his Name, Image and Likeness.
Those allegations will soon play out in court, but it leaves the stars of the movie in an awkward position. Actor Quinton Aaron, who starred in The Blind Side while playing Oher, recently reacted to the shocking development.
“I really feel like being a part of telling your story in this industry and trying to be as hands-on as possible in the process is definitely the way to go,” Aaron told The Daily Mail. “I’m not posting blame on anyone or saying someone should have did this, or someone should have been there. I’m just saying, look, moving forward, I feel like if there’s ever a situation like this, in a way to prevent something like this from happening again, I think that all parties that are relevant to the story need to be involved in the making of the story from beginning to finish.
“It has been crazy, I don’t really know how to put it in words. I don’t know personally anything about this, I learned when I saw the articles yesterday. But having met both parties, you know, obviously, my heart breaks for the situation…”
The movie will certainly lose some of its luster if Oher’s allegations are sustained against the family.
