Those in the sports world were concerned to find out that former NFL star Bo Jackson is dealing with a chronic health issue.
On Wednesday, Jackson revealed during an appearance on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning that he’s had the hiccups since July 2022, and he’s tried everything — including sniffing a porcupine’s behind — but he can’t seem to get rid of them.
Frank Thomas – a fellow Auburn alum who was teammates with Jackson on the Chicago White Sox – was honored with a statue last month. The University hosted an unveiling ceremony, but Jackson did not attend due to his ongoing battle with the hiccups.
“I wasn’t there (at the Thomas ceremony) because of dealing with hiccups,” Jackson said via AL.com. “I’ve had the hiccups since last July. I’m getting a medical procedure done the end of this week, I think, to try to remedy it. I’ve been busy sitting at the doctor’s poking me, shining lights down my throat, probing me every way they can to find out why I’ve got these hiccups. That’s the only reason I wasn’t there.”
Those in the sports world reacted to the concerning news regarding Jackson’s health on social media:
He stronger than me I'd have left this Earth after 15 hours of that https://t.co/kpZolmGKe5

This is an irrational fear of mine every time I get the hiccups – that they never stop. https://t.co/iLZdtOjCAT

Hopefully, Jackson’s medical procedure can help clear any concerns, as chronic hiccups usually point to underlying issues.
