The New England Patriots have had some extreme struggles this year, sitting at the bottom of the AFC with a 1-4 record on the year. And former NFL MVP turned radio personality Boomer Esiason believes that those struggles could spell the end of Bill Belichick in New England.

Belichick is of course widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time, winning six Super Bowls alongside Tom Brady in New England.

However, life without Brady has quickly gotten more and more difficult for Belichick to manage, and there is now some serious pressure on him to turn things around.

Most assume that whenever Belichick does call it quits in New England, he will ultimately just step away from the game of football altogether.

Instead, Esiason believes that Belichick could be enticed by a new home altogether next season, predicting that he could end up with the New York Giants next season, that is if the Giants end up with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“What happens if the New York Giants end up with the No. 1 overall pick,” said Esiason on his WFAN radio show on Tuesday. “And Bill Belichick decides ‘You know, maybe it is time to leave New England.’ Now what? I mean, Caleb Williams and Bill Belichick together in New York. You don’t think Giants fans would absolutely lose their mind over that?”

There are a lot of parts of this wild prediction to break down. First, the Giants would need to either earn the No. 1 pick with their poor play or trade for the pick to entice Belichick, which would certainly cost a ridiculous amount of future draft capital. The likelihood of that is extremely slim.

That is also assuming that Belichick, who is in the midst of his 49th season as an NFL coach, would be willing to uproot everything he has built in New England to join a rookie quarterback, albeit one with a ton of hype and potential.

Truth be told, the Patriots may have an even better chance to land the No. 1 pick than the Giants do considering their massive struggles.

So just about every part of his prediction from Esiason is completely ridiculous. Even if the Giants ended up with the No. 1 pick, it is very possible that the Giants would bring back current head coach Brian Daboll, who is just one year removed from being named the Coach of the Year.
