With head coach Brandon Staley seemingly already on the hot seat, the Los Angeles Chargers suffered an absolutely embarrassing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night, falling by a score of 63-21 in a game that the Raiders actually led 49-0 in the third quarter. Despite the loss, Staley seems to think he deserves to keep his job – but he isn’t necessarily sure he will.

During his postgame press conference, Staley was asked directly if he thinks that he will be fired after the debacle. He answered bluntly, “I don’t know that.” He was then asked whether or not he deserved to keep his job, and he said simply, “Yes.”

“I know what I’ve done for three years, I know what I’ve put into this, I know where we’re capable of going. I know what kind of coach I am. I believe in myself,” Staley said in the postgame press conference according to Pro Football Talk.

Staley was widely considered to be on the verge of being fired even going into the game against the 5-8 Las Vegas Raiders. We’ll have to see whether or not such an embarrassing loss is enough to convince the team to make that move in the middle of the season.
