Former star quarterback Brett Favre rarely missed a start throughout his 20-year NFL career. And the Green Bay Packers star revealed that all the hits he took during those games may have had some serious impacts on his long-term health.

In a recent interview with The Bubba Army, Favre opened up about the astounding number of concussions he believes he suffered throughout his career, revealing that he must have suffered “thousands” throughout his NFL-record 297-consecutive starts.

“Concussions happen all the time,” Favre said. “You get tackled and your head hits the turf, you see flashes of light or ringing in your ears but you’re able to play — that’s a concussion.”

“So, based on that, [I’ve suffered] thousands. Had to be, because every time my head hit the turf, there was ringing or stars going, flash bulbs … but I was still able to play.”

Over the course of his 20-year career, Favre was sacked 525 times. That number doesn’t include all the tackles that came in front of the line of scrimmage or any of the hits he took that didn’t count as a sack.

Favre also played quarterback – one of the more protected positions in football. If he believes he suffered thousands of concussions throughout his career with relatively little contact, there’s no telling how many concussions a linebacker or running back suffer throughout their playing careers.
