Russell Wilson did not fare well in the news Wednesday, capped by a report that the veteran quarterback expects to be cut by the Denver Broncos.

The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini tweeted Wednesday night that, “Russell Wilson is expecting to be cut by the Denver Broncos in March, per league sources.

“For almost two months, the quarterback has been starting knowing the organization was most likely going to move on him from after this season.

That report followed a run of bad news for the All-Pro quarterback. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Broncos were benching Wilson for the final two games in favor of Jarrett Stidham. Then, it was reported that decision had been in the works for months, as the team would be on the hook for an additional $37 million that would be guaranteed if he weren’t able to pass a physical by March.

So in the space of a few hours, Wilson went from being the Broncos starter to the backup QB to a player they’re reportedly cutting ties with in March. The NFL world quickly reacted to the latest report.
