The Buffalo Bills are in the midst of a heated divisional race with the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East division and it sounds like the team is adding a little bit more offensive firepower to help them in the second half of the season.
According to a report from NFL insider Dalton Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Buffalo Bills are nearing a deal to sign former first-round pick Leonard Fournette, who is currently an NFL free agent.
“BREAKING: Leonard Fournette tells me he’s in Buffalo and is planning to sign with the #Bills today, pending a physical. ‘Playoff Lenny’ had nearly 1,200 all-purpose yards, including a career-high 523 receiving yards, along with 6 TDs last season,” Schultz wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s a big move for both Fournette and the Bills ahead of the second half of the season, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.
Likely to the practice squad. Get him in the system and in shape for later in the season – is my guess. https://t.co/pf2eVYhyjH

This is a fine signing by the #Bills. Not a game changer, but it does improve the roster, if even marginally. https://t.co/HNEjhJaYQ9

I like the move for the #Bills, and I don’t expect this to be the only one they make.
Solid addition and he has had success in his career and can catch the ball.
I don’t know if he will have a huge impact, but a good guy to bring in. Super Bowl experience. #BillsMafia https://t.co/WiiE9Jjg2b

I’m going to assume this is the practice squad
If Damien Harris neck injury is a long term concern, Fournette is fine as Latavius Murray’s backup and RB3. He can catch out of the backfield and is a plus pass protector
It’s fine https://t.co/BdOLTWQgOI

How long before Lenny is RB1 in Buffalo? https://t.co/ToqE4JthXO

I don't dislike this signing by any means, by late season he ay become an upgrade over Latavius Murray. That said, this moves the needle not an inch for me with what the Bills need to do–and that's get at least one piece among DT, LB or CB. https://t.co/mxRjYxCI0r

Fournette most recently played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was a free agent before this decision to join the Bills. We’ll have to see how he is able to perform during his time in Buffalo.
