The Atlanta Falcons did not have a great season last year, finishing with a 7-10 record in last place in the NFC South division. But it sure sounds like new free agent signee Calais Campbell has extremely high hopes for the team this year.

After signing with the team as a free agent last month, Calais Campbell offered an extremely bold prediction for what he thinks the team is capable of accomplishing this season.

“If [Desmond] Ridder continues to develop [to] be who I think he can be, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re playing late in January and potentially February,” Campbell said according to Ashton Edmunds of the Atlanta Falcons team website.

That’s quite a big and bold statement, but as Campbell points out, the team is young with plenty of potential.

“This is a team that’s up and coming, that has great potential,” Campbell said. “I’m really excited about it. I feel like the team is young and poised and I think I can bring my leadership skills to try to get the guys really locked in and really focused. I feel like we can really do some damage together.”

We’ll have to see if his bold prediction comes to fruition.
