Cam Newton

Last month, former MVP quarterback Cam Newton made it clear that he intends to return to the NFL when he participated in the Pro Day workout at his alma mater, Auburn University. And even though it seemed like he wanted to be a starting quarterback in the NFL, he’s recently made it clear that he would be willing to be a backup quarterback in some situations.

Cam Newton said that he believes “there ain’t 32 guys that are better than me,” but also revealed that he’d be willing to be a backup quarterback in some situations.

“I know a lot of people have a lot of things to say in regards to my future in the NFL. And I want to set the record straight by saying, ‘This is how I feel. There ain’t 32 guys that are better than me.’ But I also know that I could also be a backup. And I’m willing to be a backup.

Newton went on to list several players he would be willing to serve as a backup quarterback for: Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields, Tua Tagovailoa, Malik Willis, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Jalen Hurts, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, and Sam Howell.

We’ll have to see if any NFL team is willing to bring in Newton, either as a starter or as a backup to one of these players.
