Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is expected to make his season debut Sunday.

Some fans think that’s great news, while others aren’t so sure, but it is big news as the former No. 1 overall pick nears his return from offseason ACL surgery.

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Monday that Murray will take reps with the first team this week and will start against the Atlanta Falcons “if the week goes well.”

“The plan for quarterback this week: Kyler is going to continue to ramp up,” Gannon said. “He’ll take the one reps, and if the week goes well, he will start on Sunday. Pleased with where he is right now. We’ll see how the week goes.”

Assuming Murray does play, what happens next is anyone’s guess. The Cardinals are 1-8 and in full rebuilding mode. They must decide if Murray is the long-term answer at quarterback, or if they would be better off drafting one of the elite QBs in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Murray will also be playing for the first time under Gannon and a new coaching staff.

Many questions, no answers, but X/Twitter users had fun debating the issue.
