Except maybe the New York Jets and Giants, the Carolina Panthers have the worst offense in the NFL. It may be worse. At least both of the New York teams have skill players — Saquon Barkley, Breece Hall, and Garrett Wilson — worth something.

Carolina’s latest display of offensive ineptitude was against the Chicago Bears on Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football. Thursday was the first opportunity for Carolina to face off against the team it traded up with to draft Bryce Young, while also sacrificing D.J. Moore in the process.

The Panthers’ lone touchdown in a 16-13 loss came on a 79-yard punt return touchdown from Ihmir Smith-Marsett in the first quarter. Meaning the offense didn’t do its job, and veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen was none too pleased about the effort that was coming from his unit.

“We’re just not hitting on all cylinders right now. We’re not hitting on any cylinders,” Thielen said, via Darin Gantt of Panthers.com. “It’s an embarrassing effort. I think everyone’s just embarrassed, you know, put up what, six points on offense. Like, we didn’t do anything. That’s embarrassing when your defense is playing the way they’re playing, especially the way they’re playing. It’s embarrassing. And like we talked about, we’re putting in good practices. We’re doing the right things; building the momentum that way, but it’s just not translating. That’s tough.”

It’s been a rough go of things for a Panthers team that fell to 1-8 on Thursday. Thielen may be on pace for a record season, but that doesn’t mean the veteran receiver is the slightest bit happy with where things stand with his new team.
