The Cincinnati Bengals are a little thin at wide receiver after star Tee Higgins suffered an injury during the team’s ugly season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. But former Bengals star receiver Chad Johnson has a unique and hilarious solution to the problem.

In a Tweet on Tuesday night, Johnson suggested that the Bengals sign him in Higgins’ place so that they can use him “as a decoy” until the Cincinnati star receiver is healthy enough to play again.

“I’m in shape if you need me until Tee is 100%, I don’t need the ball just use me as a decoy, I’m in crazy shape & don’t need a contract, still have 78% of my earnings, thoughts?” Johnson Tweeted on Tuesday night.

It’s obviously a joke, but the plan technically could work, especially considering Higgins’ wears Johnson’s old jersey number of 85.

Johnson isn’t the only former Cincinnati Bengals star receiver to insist he’s still in shape to play in the NFL. 48-year-old Terrell Owens – a former teammate of Johnson – wowed the NFL world earlier this month when he ran a blazingly fast 4.38-second 40-yard dash.

Perhaps the Bengals should call both of them. At the very least, it would certainly sell tickets.
