The Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory was unfortunately overshadowed by the tragic shooting at the team’s victory parade only three days later, an incident that has rightfully been met with outrage and grief for the innocent victims. On Tuesday, a significant step was made by Missouri prosecutors to help bring the suspected shooters in the case to justice.

Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker detailed on Tuesday that two adults have been charged with second-degree murder amongst other charges in the shooting.

Both are being held on a $1,000,000 bond according to Baker.

The outcry of support for the victims not only from the Kansas City community but online on social media has been extremely encouraging. The Chiefs emergency response fund, which was created following the shooting to help support the victims in the incident, has already raised over $681,000 and counting.

Some children injured by the shooting were also visited by Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes, which hopefully helped lift their spirits just a bit.

Obviously, money and attention will only go so far in erasing the mental and emotional scars for these innocent victims and their families. But hopefully, the fact that these perpetrators will be dealt with by the full extent of the law will help those affected by this senseless act sleep a little easier at night.
