Wednesday’s shooting at the victory parade for the Kansas City Chiefs has put a tragic note on what was meant to be a celebratory day. But hours after the shooting, a positive update came from the hospital treating the shooting’s youngest victims.
Jessica McMaster of KSHB 41 News, Kansas City’s NBC affiliate, shared an update from Children’s Mercy in Kansas City.
“POSITIVE UPDATE! Stephanie Meyer, Senior VP of Nursing at Children’s Mercy says all patients are expected to have a full recovery,” McMaster tweeted.

McMaster offered further updates as well, including that parents were reunited with their kids and the victims ranged from 6 to 15 years old.
She says they did have parents calling looking for their kids who they were able to reunite.

Heather Hollingsworth and Nick Ingram of the Associated Press reported that “eight children were among 22 people hit by gunfire” at the parade. As of this writing, Lisa Lopez, a DJ and radio host in Kansas City, is the only reported death.
