Chiefs Chris Jones Credit: Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Jones has been a vital contributor for the Kansas City Chiefs. With Jones an unsigned free agent, what does his future look like in KC?

The Chiefs appear to want to re-sign the three-time Super Bowl champion, but the deal is not complete yet. When the team decided to use the franchise tag on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, Jones could stay with the team. So far, no deal has been struck.

Head coach Andy Reid remains hopeful that the team will retain its star defensive end. He spoke to Rich Eisen candidly on The Rich Eisen Show this week and discussed the situation around Jones.

“I’m hoping [it is close],” Reid said via Pro Football Talk. “I can’t give you anything because I don’t have a whole lot. I’m doing all these media things, so maybe something is going better than I think it is,” Reid admitted. “We’d love to have him back.”

Jones has been named to five Pro Bowls and named an All-Pro selection two times in his illustrious career. The former Mississippi State standout has 75.5 career sacks to go along with his three Super Bowl titles. He’s as good as they come in the NFL, and the Chiefs surely know it.

It’s just yet to be seen how things will shake out, but Chiefs fans hope that they keep on with Jones.
