The Kansas City Chiefs opened the 2023 NFL season with a 21-20 loss to the Detroit Lions. It was an especially hard loss for Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney who dropped several passes from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. One of those passes he missed turned into an interception that led to a touchdown.
The Chiefs were missing All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce because of injuries, so Toney became one of Mahomes main targets Thursday night.
Toney finished the game with one catch for one yard and one rush for a loss. According to Sam Monson, Pro Football Focus lead NFL analyst, Toney’s PFF grade last night is the worst single-game grade given to a WR since 2018.

While Chiefs fans were frustrated with his performance, New York Giants fans made it a point to victorylap Toney’s shortcomings on social media. Toney has an adversarial relationship with the fanbase of the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has often gotten into social media spats with them.
That explains later why he got rid of his social media account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Hopefully, Toney will learn from this game and bounce back.
