Miami Dolphins fumble return for TD Photo Credit: NFL Network

The Kansas City Chiefs owned the Miami Dolphins in the first half Sunday, so much so that KC even rolled out a sandlot football play that worked to perfection.

The Chiefs were already leading 14-0 with about 30 seconds remaining in the half. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hit Tyreek Hill with a short pass, and it seemed Miami just wanted to establish some momentum going into halftime.

But Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie stripped the ball from Hill. Safety Mike Edwards recovered the fumble and started downfield, and before he got tackled, he lateraled the ball to safety Bryan Cook, who raced 59 yards for the touchdown.

The fact Hill fumbled to start the play just seemed like weird karma, given the former Chiefs star’s comments about his old team. By the way, the Chiefs had selected McDuffie with one of the draft picks they got from Miami in the Hill trade.

Making the play even more unusual: Next Gen Stats reported Cook hit 21.31 mph on the return, the fastest speed by a Chiefs ball carrier this year.

NFL fans who were up early watching the game from Germany had plenty to say about the crazy fumble six. Unfortunately for Hill, most of the jokes came at his expense.
