The Cincinnati Bengals got some pretty horrible news this week when Joe Burrow left Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a wrist injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season. And it sounds like the team is making some contingency plans to help bolster the roster while he’s out.

The injury to Joe Burrow left the Cincinnati Bengals with just two quarterbacks on the roster – Jake Browning and A.J. McCarron. But according to league insider Tom Pelissero of Pro Football Talk, the Bengals are bringing in a third quarterback.

“With Joe Burrow out for the season, the #Bengals brought back a familiar face: Drew Plitt has re-signed to the practice squad, his second stint with the team. So this the QB room in Cincinnati moving forward: Jake Browning, AJ McCarron and Drew Plitt,” Pelissero said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Plitt was with the Bengals throughout the 2022 preseason, but did not make the team’s active roster and was cut from the team. He spent last season playing for the Arlington Renegades where he went 63-of-100 through the air for 668 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions.
