With Jim Harbaugh now heading back to the NFL to become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, it’s now time for him to build his staff. And one NFL insider is suggesting that his Chargers’ staff could include a familiar face: former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out, Jim Harbaugh and Colin Kaepernick have a long history together going back to when Harbaugh and the Niners selected Kaepernick in the 2011 NFL Draft and the two advanced to the Super Bowl together. But more than that, Harbaugh has already considered bringing Kaepernick onto his staff before.

“Two years ago, Harbaugh (as PFT reported) was considering the possibility of bringing Kaepernick to Minnesota as the quarterbacks coach, if Harbaugh had been hired. It’s unknown whether Kaepernick, now 36, would have been (or now would be) willing to do that,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk.

Obviously, it’s pretty big news that Harbaugh could consider giving Kaepernick a job in the league after he has been outside of the NFL since his protests during the national anthem in 2016, and the NFL world had a lot to say about the news on social media.

We’ll have to see whether or not Harbaugh does decide to bring on Kaepernick.
