Colin Kaepernick Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Colin Kaepernick had his name swirled around as a potential quarterback for the New York Jets. The team stymied those rumors, and the suggestion quickly became that Kaep wouldn’t make his NFL comeback in East Rutherford. On Tuesday, the letter that the former San Francisco 49ers star sent to the team was revealed. Included was a clear message to the Jets: That Kap was ready, willing, and able to be there if needed for the practice squad.

“As much as I would love the opportunity to fill that spot, I’m writing you in hopes that you can imagine a much different approach involving me; I would be honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to come in and lead the practice squad,” wrote Kaepernick in an extensive letter to Joe Douglas.

According to Bleacher Report, rapper J. Cole is responsible for Kaepernick’s letter becoming public.

Kaepernick included multiple reasons why he could lead the practice squad, and you have to give him credit for one thing. He was thorough and extensive in his reasonings, and he made pretty strong arguments. Nevertheless, though, the message obviously went untouched.

The Jets made headlines on Tuesday by signing veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian. The former Northwestern quarterback has been around the league for the last few years, notably replacing legendary quarterback Peyton Manning in Denver in 2016.
