Anthony Richardson Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (5) works through drills during the first day of training camp practice Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield, Indiana.

While all the drama in the Indianapolis Colts training camp has surrounded running back Jonathan Taylor’s status, the team announced a new development Monday morning.

Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson underwent a medical procedure Sunday and will hopefully return to action Tuesday.

“He will miss practice today and depending on how he feels we expect him to return tomorrow,” the team said in a statement (via Pro Football Talk).

The procedure corrected an issue with Richardson’s nasal spectrum.

Richardson, the N0. 4 overall draft pick out of Florida, is still officially behind veteran Gardner Minshew on the team’s depth chart. However, no one in Colts Nation expects an outbreak of “Minshew Mania” anytime soon, and Richardson is viewed as the eventual starter, possibly to open the season. He made a big step in that direction Friday, taking all the QB1 snaps in practice.

The athletic rookie has been turning heads in training camp with his play and skill set. NFL fans were impressed last week when the Colts posted video of Richardson connecting on a 50-plus yard touchdown pass to receiver Alec Pierce in tight coverage.

“He flicks his wrist, and the ball goes 60 yards,” wide receiver Josh Downs told the team’s website.
