Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed the speculation Monday, that quarterback Anthony Richardson is out indefinitely with a sprained AC joint.

Steichen told reporters that Richardson will miss “some time.” That confirmation came on the heels of a report earlier Monday by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that the rookie QB had been diagnosed with a Grade 3 AC joint sprain, indicating an absence of a month or more.

Richardson suffered the injury Sunday during the Colts’ 23-16 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Richardson got hurt on a designed run play in the second quarter.

Veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew replaced Richardson, and performed well, completing 11-of-14 passes for 155 yards. He obviously doesn’t bring the same running threat as Richardson, but he knows the offense and can occasionally put up some huge numbers.

Social media reacted to Steichen’s confirmation of what everyone feared.
