Magic Johnson, who owns a share of the Washington Commanders, was at FedEx Field on Thursday, watching his Commanders take on the Chicago Bears. He did not like what he saw.

Washington was jumped from the start, falling behind 17-0 early in the second quarter and 27-3 at halftime. While the Commanders did make something of a game of it in the second half, 30-20 was as close as they’d get in what ended up being a 40-20 win for the Bears.

Magic was frustrated with the team’s performance and didn’t mince words expressing that frustration.

“Tonight the Commanders played with no intensity or fire. We didn’t compete in the first half and got down 27-3 heading into halftime. It was too big of a hole to climb out of and that is why we ended up losing 40-20,” he tweeted.

Football fans read this message and wondered if it may signal some imminent changes coming to the team.

Washington actually enjoyed a decent start to the season, defeating the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos over the first two weeks to start 2-0. While the Buffalo Bills routed the Commanders in Week 3, they bounced back well with a close loss to the still undefeated Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. It felt like a Thursday night game against a previously winless Chicago team was going to be a great chance for Washington to back in the win column.

Not only losing but losing in decisive fashion will certainly be tough for the Commanders and their fans to stomach.
