T.Y. Hilton Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton (13) celebrates after a touchdown Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Dallas Cowboys made one of the more surprising moves of this NFL season on Monday, signing former Indianapolis Colts star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy offered his thoughts on the signing shortly after it happened, and gave some high praise to the former Pro Bowl receiver.

In an interview with Cowboys reporter Jon Machota, he revealed that Hilton had a workout with Dallas on Monday and “passed it with flying colors”.

“Great addition,” said McCarthy, per Machota on Twitter. “We’ll get him out there Wednesday and get him acclimated. He had a workout. Everything passed with flying colors. The timing is right. He’s ready to go.”

This is certainly a good sign for Hilton that he did well in his workout considering he is coming off a 2021 season where he was often injured for Indianapolis.

Dallas has been heavily linked to free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in recent months, but they ultimately decided to go in a far less flashy direction with Hilton.

While Hilton may not be the explosive player that Beckham is or he once was in his career, he provides a reliable option for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott that is desperately needed alongside star receiver CeeDee Lamb.

It looks like T.Y. Hilton will gather some knowledge of the playbook this week and slowly be worked into the offense, but he may serve a very important as the head toward a potential postseason appearance later this year.
