For the last few days, there has been plenty of speculation about whether or not Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will be starting Sunday against the Detroit Lions, and the quarterback confirmed Thursday that he indeed will be in the lineup Sunday.

“I am,” said Prescott on Thursday, though he quickly added, “I think anyway” to cover his bases.

Prescott also said he won’t wear a brace on his thumb but he might wear KT tape during the game.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been saying that Prescott was going to return earlier than anticipated, but when backup Cooper Rush played better than most expected, Prescott was able to take his time coming back.

Prescott was officially cleared to come back Wednesday and Jones was very optimistic about his chances of starting this weekend.

The Cowboys have been a surprise so far this NFL season with a 4-2 record. Many thought that once Prescott was hurt in Week 1 that their season was essentially over. But Rush and the Cowboys’ defense proved everyone wrong. They managed to take a 4-1 record going into their contest with the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday and almost managed a come-from-behind victory in spite of Rush’s poor performance.

Now, with Prescott coming back from his thumb injury, the Cowboys’ offense is expected to be even better, and that could make them a real contender in the NFC.
