The Dallas Cowboys began their voluntary offseason program this week, but there was one notable absence from the group of players who chose to attend: superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter, CeeDee Lamb has decided that he will not take part in the voluntary workouts as he seeks a new contract from the team ahead of the final season of his rookie contract.

“Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb isn’t expected to attend the start of Dallas’ voluntary off-season program Monday while he awaits a new contract to replace the one scheduled to pay him a fully-guaranteed $17.199 million for his upcoming fifth-year option season,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

This is obviously pretty brutal news for the Dallas Cowboys as it indicates that Lamb is not exactly happy with his contract situation given the lack of progress on a new contract. It’s also particularly brutal that it comes right after the Philadelphia Eagles signed their own star wide receiver, DeVonta Smith, to a deal well before his contract was up.

All in all, it’s not a great situation for the Cowboys and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see how the Cowboys handle this situation.
