With the NFL trade deadline officially passed, Dalvin Cook will be staying with the New York Jets even after suggesting that a trade could be the best move for himself and the team. But it sounds like the Jets are still happy to have him on the roster.
During a recent press conference, New York Jets General Manager Joe Douglas opened up about Dalvin Cook and defensive end Carl Lawson, who has also expressed frustration with his role this season. Douglas made it clear that he thinks both players will ultimately help the team this season.
“Those guys are great teammates and players,” Douglas said according to the team’s website. “I have a feeling we’re going to need those guys a lot down the stretch. They’re assets to this team and we’re glad they’re here. Seven games in, we’re 4-3 and there’s a lot in front of us. At the end of the day, we did what we felt was best for our team and we’re excited about the guys we have.”
We’ll have to see if either Cook or Lawson see their roles expand over the course of the rest of the season or if they continue to remain discontent on the team.
