The 2023 season did not go the way New York Giants starting quarterback Daniel Jones had hoped as he was sidelined with a season-ending ACL injury midway through the season. But it sounds like the team expects him to bounce back and return to his status as the team’s starting quarterback.
During an interview session at the Senior Bowl this week, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen said that the “expectation” is that Daniel Jones will once again be the starting quarterback for the Giants after he recovers from his injury, though he didn’t rule out the possibility of selecting a quarterback with the No. 6 pick in the NFL Draft.
“Where we are, we’re in a good spot at six, we’re gonna look at every position we have needs across the board, offensively and defensively,’’ Schoen said according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. “Daniel’s in the building every day working hard. The expectation is for him to be the starter when he’s healthy going into camp and we’re gonna be thorough with our process at every position during the draft, regardless whether it’s quarterback, running back, safety, corner, whatever it is. We’ll take a good player at six.’’
We’ll have to see how Jones performs next season and whether or not he can remain healthy for the team.
