The Dallas Cowboys notched a blowout victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday afternoon. There were many impressive moments for the Cowboys in the game, but the biggest one came when cornerback DaRon Bland brought back an interception for a touchdown, setting a new NFL record.

In the fourth quarter of Thursday’s win over the Cowboys, DaRon Bland intercepted a pass from Commanders quarterback Sam Howell and weaved through a few defenders to bring it back 63 yards for a touchdown. The score gave him the NFL record for most pick-sixes in a single season, and it was clear that he was going to do everything he could to get into the end zone.

“Actually, I wanted to show my teammates my return skills,” Bland said according to Pro Football Talk. ” That’s what they said, ‘We’ve seen a lot of pick-sixes. We [need] to see one with return skills.’ Hopefully, I showed them. . . . I wasn’t going to be denied on that one.”

As for the record, Bland wants it to serve as an inspiration to those who look up to him.

“It means a lot,” Bland said. “That was one of my biggest things, show the kids back home you can do it. Whatever it is you put your mind to, you can do it.”
