This NFL free agency has seen a number of wide receivers get some big paydays, which leaves players who are in the midst of contract negotiations looking to get their share of what appears to be a booming market.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is a prime example of that. The one-time Pro-Bowler is currently going through contract negotiations with the team, but it appears that they have hit an impasse.
Samuel is one of the rising stars in the league and is reportedly looking to get paid in the range of what Davante Adams or Tyreek Hill received this offseason.
It appears that isn’t the plan for the 49ers. Samuel officially requested a trade earlier this week, stating that he didn’t want to discuss his reasoning for doing so. But many are speculating that it is because the team and Samuel are far off in terms of negotiations.
It remains to be seen if the team is willing to trade Samuel going forward, but Samuel certainly appears serious with his trade request.
And, after that , video emerged of Samuel at a nightclub on Saturday. There, there was a sign reading “Deebo is staying, 49ers.”
The video then cut to Samuel, who makes a motion that clearly indicates that he does not want to stay with the 49ers.

This has many fans thinking it may be only a matter of time until Samuel’s time with the 49ers comes to an end.
So when this week is Deebo getting traded? https://t.co/V38KytjG87

Deebo Samuel: “Nope.”

Samuel had his breakout season in 2021, racking in 77 catches for 1,405 yards as well as flashing some ability as a running back with 365 rushing yards.
He is certainly someone who will get a massive contract somewhere next offseason when his contract expires at the end of next season. But it appears that it may not be in San Francisco.
It may make for an uncomfortable offseason if the organization can’t get back in the good graces of Samuel heading into the 2022 NFL season.
