The Denver Broncos played most of last season without starting running back Javonte Williams after he suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 4 last season. But after a lengthy recovery period, it sounds like the plan is for him to be ready to return to the team by the start of training camp.

During a football camp he hosted along with Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II this weekend, Javonte Williams made it clear that he thinks he will be medically cleared to play by the time training camp begins.

“I mean, that’s the plan. I feel like I’m ready to go,” Williams said according to ESPN.

While Williams certainly feels optimistic about his recovery, he does acknowledge that it ultimately is not his decision whether or not he is medically cleared to return to practice.

“It’s just all about the evaluation, how the Broncos feel about it,” Williams said. “… Just seeing how I feel, moving, just trying to get my speed back to normal, things like that.”

It’s a pretty big update for a player that is vital to the success of the Broncos going forward, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.

Williams will undoubtedly be a major boost to the Broncos as the team looks to rebound from a disappointing season last year.
