Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has told the team that not only will he not accept a trade to the New Orleans Saints, but he won’t accept a trade anywhere. As per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, that means the team is set to release him, making him a free agent.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic later offered more details:
Couple updates on Carr: Saints were the only team that showed interest in a trade but wanted Carr to take a pay cut. Raiders wanted a third-round pick but were prepared to be flexible. Ultimately, no one wanted to take on the contract. https://t.co/Kocs4kIxLy

Although this move was expected by Carr, it has to be a blow, however, for both the Raiders and Saints.
The Raiders won’t be able to get any draft picks or veteran players in exchange for Carr (seen against the Pittsburgh Steelers in December), and the Saints once again are still searching for their new starter.
At least now the Saints or any team for that matter can go after Carr without giving up anything for him in exchange.
Despite his struggles with the Raiders this past season, Carr is expected to get top dollar on the free agent market and can basically name his price.
The other quarterback who may be in the market soon is Aaron Rodgers, who may be poised to leave the Green Bay Packers. Behind him is Carr, who may have quite the teams to pick from.
Many think that Rodgers may be reuniting with his former Packer teammate Davante Adams in Las Vegas. Several signs seem to be pointing to that happening soon.
Another team both may be interested in is the New York Jets. The Jets recently inquired about speaking to the Packers about Rodgers.
Once Rodgers announces his plans, Carr’s future should be clearer.
