During Sunday afternoon’s game against the Green Bay Packers, Derek Carr suffered a scary shoulder injury and needed to be taken to a nearby hospital. But it sounds like the injury is not as bad as originally feared.

According to a report from league insider Ian Rapoport on the NFL Network, Derek Carr suffered an AC joint sprain and could return to the field soon.

“We did get some news on Derek Carr. Scary situation – during the game, went down really hard and then was taken to the hospital to get tested and examinations on his shoulder. I know there was initial fear that it was a really serious injury,” Rapoport said. “After a battery of tests, actually not as serious as feared. My understanding is an AC joint sprain.”

This is obviously good news for Carr, but Rapoport is still not sure that it means he’ll be playing this week for the Saints.

“We’ll see if he’s able to come back,” Rapoport said. “I’d be a little surprised if he does play this week, but he did avoid a major injury which is good news.”

It’s a massive update for the Saints, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see how soon Carr can get back on the field.
