Baker Mayfield is enjoying a resurgence as a starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
His former team, the Cleveland Browns, is currently in quarterback limbo as Deshaun Watson deals with a shoulder contusion on his throwing arm.
Those dynamics, however, didn’t stop Quincy Avery, a private quarterbacks coach to many NFL stars including Watson, from renewing his beef with Mayfield on a recent appearance on QB Unplugged.

“There’s an NFL quarterback that used to play for the Browns,” Avery began. “Everybody talks about how much I dislike [Baker Mayfield].
“All NFL players, I feel like a large majority, work out in Los Angeles. So one day, we’re at UCLA. He’s there. We’re training. Baker gets done with his workout, and he, like, daps up everybody. But then he just mugs me.”
Watson then asked if it could have been because Mayfield didn’t know him.
“No,” Avery said before showcasing how Mayfield looked when he mugged him. “He could have been anti-dap of me,” Avery said before ultimately conceding that Mayfield may not have known him.
“It might be on me,” he said. “But if you did that on purpose, it’s on you. And we got smoke.”
This isn’t the first time that Avery has spoken ill of Mayfield.
In January, the quarterback coach tweeted that he didn’t like Mayfield as a person.
“I only throw shots at QBs I don’t like as ppl like Baker everyone else I think I’m pretty fair lol,” Avery wrote.
