When the Detroit Lions take on the Minnesota Vikings this weekend, they won’t really be playing for much as the team is essentially locked into the No. 3 seed in the NFL playoffs whether they win or lose. Despite this, it doesn’t sound like the Lions are planning to rest any of their starters.

During a recent press conference this week, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell was asked about the situation and whether or not he planned to use the same starting lineup this week as he has in previous weeks. And he seemed to indicate that the starters will play.

“Yeah, that’s the plan right now, play our guys,” Campbell said according to Pro Football Talk. “Our players will be ready to roll. I know they will.”

Even though there isn’t much to play for, it’s clear that the team wants to make sure that it keeps its momentum up heading into the postseason.

While the Lions are mostly locked into the No. 3 seed in the postseason there is a chance that the Lions could move up to the No. 2 seed with a win over the Minnesota Vikings if everything else goes their way, though the odds of that are not exactly high.
