Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is the highest-paid player at his position. But even he doesn’t like to be fined by the NFL, especially not for the ridiculous reason that was given to him on Thursday.
Hill and the Dolphins dominated in Week 3, defeating the Denver Broncos in a 70-20 rout. Hill played a big part in that, recording nine receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown.
It was a great day for Hill individually, but it will likely cost him some money after he violated a ridiculous rule about his attire during the game.
Hill revealed to Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post that he was fined $7,000 for not wearing socks at one point in the game after getting an IV.
“So in the Broncos game, the first touchdown, I didn’t have any socks on at all,” Hill said. “But I was getting an IV and I didn’t want to be late for the play. So I didn’t have time to put on my socks.”
Hill detailed that he will be appealing the fine and hopes to get it reduced.
“It was like $7,000, but I’m appealing and when I appeal it’s probably going to get reduced,” said Hill.
It’s a pretty ridiculous amount for any player to be fined for something as simple as taking off your socks. And fans on social media were rightfully shocked by the sheer amount of the fine.
The NFL is petty

Seriously? That's absurd.

So, no knee pads is cool but gotta wear socks?

That's why he's so fast. Unfair advantage. Leave it to the NFL. They don't just fleece customers but players too.

That really socks

Hill can certainly afford the fine, as he is currently in the midst of a four-year $120 million contract with the Dolphins. But that’s obviously not the point, and the fine certainly seems like a harsh one, even for a layer like Hill.
