The Jacksonville Jaguars may be 1-1 this season, but the team’s offense has not played the way head coach Doug Pederson would have expected. And it sounds like he wants the unit to hit its stride before it’s too late.

During a recent press conference, Doug Peterson had a particularly brutal message about the team’s offensive performance, saying the offense is “running out of the early excuse” for their struggles so far this season.

“I know it’s early, but we’re running out of the early excuse a little bit,” Pederson said according to Adam Stites of USA Today. “We need to get it addressed pretty quick. . . . It’s got to be a now mentality, obviously we got to continue to work to improve.”

Obviously, a 1-1 record isn’t something to be concerned about, especially after the team started the season 3-7 last year before ultimately winning the division and even beating the Los Angeles Chargers in the playoffs. Still, it is concerning if the team cannot build and sustain a reliable offense going forward.

We’ll have to see if something clicks on the offensive side of the ball for the Jaguars this week and if they can get star quarterback Trevor Lawrence and his skill players going against the Houston Texans.
