The Atlanta Falcons have shocked everyone thus far this season, currently sitting atop the NFC South division with a 4-4 record on the year. They made a big decision on Saturday on former Pro Bowl running back Cordarrelle Patterson, and that one certainly bodes well for the team moving forward.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Falcons will be activating Patterson (seen above in a Sept. 11 game against the New Orleans Saints) off their injured reserve list. He plans to play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The former return specialist turned running back has been out for the Falcons since suffering a knee injury in Week 4.

When Patterson was on the field for Atlanta, he certainly made a huge impact, recording two games on the year with over 100 yards rushing.

The Falcons have been extremely efficient at running the ball this season, ranking in the top-five in the NFL in rushing yards per game offensively.

That should get even better with Patterson returning, which many Falcons’ fans are extremely excited about.

This matchup against the Chargers could be exactly what Atlanta needs for a big upset victory, with the Chargers ranking last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per play.

The Chargers come into Sunday’s game against the Falcons as three-point betting favorites, according to Caesars Sportsbook. But it very much seems like Paterson could play a huge part in helping Atlanta try and build on their lead in the NFC South division on Sunday.
