The family of fallen former NFL star Stanley Wilson Jr. has filed a lawsuit against the LA County Police Department.

The family believes that Wilson may have been beaten by the police before he died. The family and their lawyer John Carpenter presented proof that Wilson looked to have been beaten.

Photos of wounds to Wilson Jr. appear to have shown that he was either kicked or stomped in the head, while other images of ligature marks on his wrist appear to indicate he was restrained during the alleged attack, Carpenter told reporters.

“You can tell from the ligature marks on his wrist that was the case and there were fresh wounds to his forehead, which appeared to be caused by a shoe and so that’s in stark contrast to what we’ve been told from the county regarding the circumstances of his death,” he said.

Wilson’s mother Dr. D. Pulane Lucas said that she was informed that her son had fallen and collapsed out of a chair at a mental hospital.

Dr. Lucas said she wanted to know if proper protocols were taken concerning her son.

The family is reportedly seeking $45 million in damages and they have yet to receive the full autopsy report on Wilson.
