The Philadelphia Eagles got some bad news this week as star quarterback Jalen Hurts is doubtful to play this week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys after suffering a shoulder injury. Even though Hurts isn’t ruling himself out of this week’s game, it looks like Gardner Minshew will get the start this week – and it sounds like the team has full confidence in him.

In an interview this week, Eagles tight Dallas Goedert said that Gardner Minshew has a “legend behind him,” remembering the “Minshew Mania” in Jacksonville.

“He came in here after he was in Jacksonville, you know, Minshew Mania. He kind of had that legend behind him. He came in here and didn’t disappoint,” Goedert said according to Reuben Frank of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com. “He’s been himself since the day he got in here. And he’s always been a little different in the best way possible, and I love that about him. He’s just got a lot of respect because he comes in here to work every day, prepares like the starter even though he knows he’s the backup.

“He knows his role, and he just waits for an opportunity like this, and we all have faith that he’s going to make the most of it.”

While he’s certainly not Jalen Hurts, it’s safe to say the Eagles think they’re in good hands with Minshew at the helm.
