When the New York Jets took on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon, Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson played his first game in the state of Ohio on Sunday since he was drafted in the first round out of Ohio State back in April. Wilson made the most of his return to the Buckeye State, scoring the first touchdown of his NFL career. And he had a message for Ohio State fans in attendance.

During his first touchdown celebration on Sunday afternoon, Wilson threw up an “O-H!” to the Browns fans in the stands, many of whom are also Ohio State fans who watched Wilson play the previous three years at Ohio State.

“That’s just for all of the fans there,” Wilson told Pro Football Focus after the game. “I know a lot of them watching for the previous three to four years at Ohio State and I kind of felt the love in warmups. I kind of made my mind up if I scored that I wanted to do the ‘O-H.’ That’s all that was.”

That wasn’t the only touchdown Wilson scored on Sunday, nor was it the most important. Wilson scored what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown, putting his team ahead 31-30 and notching his first NFL victory. He notched the first win and first win and first touchdown of his career in Ohio – and that was special to him.

“I mean this is special,” Wilson said. “The moment I’ll never forget for sure, being back in Ohio. And something I’ll definitely tell my kids about. To get a win anywhere in this league is huge but definitely adds some flare to it being back where I played college ball.”
