Giants lineman Justin Pugh's hilarious introduction on SNF Photo Credit: NBC

The New York Giants have had some serious offensive line issues this season, coming into their Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills allowing the second most sacks in all of football. This led them to sign a familiar journeyman offensive lineman, who hilariously introduced himself as such on Sunday Night Football.

Veteran offensive guard Justin Pugh started his career with the Giants, starting 63 games in his five-year tenure with the team.

He then played five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, with his last season coming in 2022 where he played in five games with the organization.

Pugh was not signed to a team during the offseason, and he was presumably at home awaiting a call from an NFL team. He got that call from the Giants this week, signing earlier this month.

He was then called upon to start on Sunday night, which meant that he was asked to introduce himself along with the rest of the Giants starting offense for SNF on NBC.

Most players state their name and the college that they went to. Pugh got more creative with things in his message to the fans watching at home, which has since gone viral.

“Justin Pugh, straight off the couch,” said Pugh.

Fans loved his brutally honest assessment of the situation, and let their enjoyment be known on social media.

For those wondering, Pugh actually came to the NFL after a collegiate career at Syracuse. But at this point in his career, “straight off the couch” is probably as accurate as Pugh can be about his NFL return.
