The Green Bay Packers dealt Super Bowl champion quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets earlier this offseason in one of the most anticipated trades in NFL history.

Several former teammates followed Rodgers to New York, but none of them play offensive line. According to ESPN reporter Rich Cimini, Rodgers got sacked on six of his last 10 dropbacks in the Jets’ last preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Jets’ woes at offensive line have many fans clamoring for another Packers player to be shipped to the Jets in veteran offensive lineman David Bakhtiari, one of Rodgers’ closest friends while paying in Green Bay.

While the trade might work on several fronts as the Packers look to build a future around new starting quarterback Jordan Love, the idea is a non-starter according to Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst.

“First of all, we’re not going to trade David. So just get that out of the way,” Gutekunst bluntly, according to Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com.

Bakhtiari has only played in 12 games since tearing his ACL on New Year’s Eve in 2020, but Gutekunst says the veteran is “in a good place” with his knee and will be expected to protect Love this season.

If the Jets are to fix their offensive woes, it looks like they’ll have to look elsewhere than Green Bay.
